Basketball Game Preview: College Park Cavaliers vs. Tomball Memorial Wildcats

The College Park Cavaliers and the Tomball Memorial Wildcats will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with College Park sitting on four straight victories and Tomball Memorial on seven.

College Park is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing The Woodlands: they outscored them in every quarter. College Park walked away with a 52-42 win over The Woodlands on Friday.

College Park got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gretchen Wright out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. Those 13 boards gave Wright a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Smith, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tomball Memorial). They breezed by Magnolia West to the tune of 67-33 on Friday. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Tomball Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for College Park, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

College Park came up short against Tomball Memorial in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 43-31. Can College Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
