Volleyball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Illiana Christian Vikings

The Munster Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Illiana Christian Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Munster took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over La Porte. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Munster's got stronger as the match went on, holding La Porte to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12, 25-9.

Munster relied on the efforts of Austin Spain, who had five digs and four aces, and Paul Harkenrider, who had 13 assists and six digs. The dominant performance also gave Spain a new career-high in assists (17).

Meanwhile, Illiana Christian made easy work of Crown Point on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-21, 25-17.

Illiana Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Munster, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Munster came out on top in a nail-biter against Illiana Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
