Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Granite Hills' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Apple Valley, Granite Hills was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Barstow Aztecs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 back in April.

Kathryn (Kat) McCartney made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. McCartney was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Mylie Shepard was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Annabelle Gutierrez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Granite Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Barstow, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Granite Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against Barstow: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
