Basketball Game Preview: Lake Region Lakers vs. Medomak Valley Panthers

The Lake Region Lakers will square off against the Medomak Valley Panthers at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lake Region is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Poland by a score of 61-52.

Meanwhile, Medomak Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 66-53 win over Camden Hills. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Windjammers are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Region is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points over those games. As for Medomak Valley, they pushed their record up to 19-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lake Region suffered a grim 65-40 defeat to Medomak Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Lake Region avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
