Hernando Christian Academy hadn't done well against First Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Hernando Christian Academy Lions took down the First Academy Eagles 57-40. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

Hernando Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caydon Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Williams is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Montzka, who posted 13 points in addition to six boards and five steals.

First Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rhett Walsh, who put up ten points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Jezowski, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

With the victory, Hernando Christian Academy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for First Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Hernando Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-52 loss against Canterbury on the 13th. As for First Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Taylor has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
