Soccer Game Preview: Hattiesburg vs. Picayune

Hattiesburg hasn't had much luck against Picayune recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hattiesburg Tigers will challenge the Picayune Maroon Tide at 7:00 p.m. Hattiesburg's last four matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Hattiesburg is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals last Monday, they were much more limited against Terry on Friday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bulldogs who were credited with the win. Terry got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Hattiesburg's four.

Picayune is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They had just enough and edged Pearl River Central out 4-3 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Maroon Tide needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Hattiesburg's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-3. As for Picayune, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.

Hattiesburg suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Picayune when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Hattiesburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
