Softball Recap: Newburyport Takes a Loss

Newburyport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 19-2 to the Lynnfield Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in April.

Newburyport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cassidy Balcome, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Newburyport's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lynnfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Newburyport will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockport at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lynnfield, they will take on Manchester Essex at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
