Preview: Bountiful RedHawks vs. Box Elder Bees

Bountiful and Box Elder are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Bountiful RedHawks will head out on the road to face off against the Box Elder Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Last Friday, Bountiful came up short against Roy and fell 60-50.

Despite their loss, Bountiful saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carson Smith, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 36% of Bountiful's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Smith, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Box Elder had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Roy out 59-56. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but Box Elder was the better team in the second half.

Box Elder relied on the efforts of Elijah Kersey, who scored 24 points along with three steals, and Max Isaacson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Isaacson's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Carter Buchanon, who scored four points.

Bountiful's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Box Elder, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Bountiful hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 65.7 points per game. However, it's not like Box Elder struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Bountiful couldn't quite finish off Box Elder in their previous meeting on January 3rd and fell 75-72. Can Bountiful avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
