Basketball Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Palm Springs Indians

Palm Desert is 2-8 against Palm Springs since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Palm Desert Aztecs will host the Palm Springs Indians at 6:30 p.m. Palm Desert knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Palm Springs likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, Palm Desert blew past Shadow Hills, posting an 82-43 win. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Paul Dreisbach and Jecorey Jones were among the main playmakers for Palm Desert as the former went 7 for 12 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists and the latter went 6 of 9 en route to 23 points along with six assists and five boards. Those 23 points gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Brande, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Palm Springs entered their tilt with Rialto on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They strolled past the Knights with points to spare, taking the game 66-47. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Knights are ranked 607th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palm Desert has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Palm Springs, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
