Recap: Holdenville Wolverines vs. Wilson-Henryetta Tigers

The Holdenville Wolverines pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 83-62 defeat at the hands of Wilson-Henryetta. While losing is never fun, Holdenville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Wilson-Henryetta is ranked ninth).

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izaia King, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that King scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kase Sipes, who scored 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Holdenville and nudges their season record down to 6-3. As for Wilson-Henryetta, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holdenville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Atoka at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Atoka is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Wilson-Henryetta will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Hanna is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
