Softball Recap: Russell's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Russell can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Great Falls Bison 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Rustlers: when they faced off against the Bison two weeks ago, they had to take a 7-5 defeat.

Ruby Dean was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Hailey Marr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Russell lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Russell's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 4-13. As for Great Falls, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Russell is set to challenge their familiar foe Skyview at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Considering the Rustlers have lost four straight at home and the Falcons three straight on the road, this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum. Meanwhile, Great Falls will take on rival Belgrade at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
