Basketball Recap: Jaiden Copley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Tech over Garrett Morgan

If East Tech was feeling good fresh off their 70-18 takedown of Bard Early College last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Tech Scarabs fell 70-61 to the Garrett Morgan Falcons on Monday. While the Scarabs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 16-6 in the first quarter.

East Tech lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaiden Copley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Copley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Keshawn Ellington, who posted 18 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Even though they lost, East Tech was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

East Tech's record now sits at 6-8. As for Garrett Morgan, their record now sits at 11-5.

East Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Campus International on the 28th. Garrett Morgan has also already played their next contest, an 85-76 victory against John Marshall on the 28th.
