Football Preview: Randall Raiders vs. Estacado Matadors
Randall has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will host the Estacado Matadors at 7:00 p.m. Randall will be strutting in after a victory while Estacado will be coming in after a defeat.
Randall is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Perryton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Randall blew Perryton out of the water with a 49-19 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Randall can attribute much of their success to Kaison Benton, who threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and Dylan Ray, who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. The dominant performance also gave Benton a new career-high in rushing yards. Collin Miller was Benton's top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Randall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 193 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Estacado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Sweetwater at home by a 39-25 margin. One positive for the Matadors, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Randall's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Estacado, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
