Soccer Game Preview: Melrose vs. Watertown

The Melrose Red Raiders will head out to take on the Watertown Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Melrose is headed into the matchup having not lost since the 8th and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Stoneham a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. Melrose haven't had any issues with Stoneham recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

While Watertown's fans didn't get a definitive result on Wednesday, they were treated to the team's highest-scoring tie of the season. Neither they nor Wakefield Memorial could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Melrose's win bumped their record up to 5-3-2. With that draw, Watertown's record moves to 4-0-5.

Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Watertown when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
