Baseball Recap: UME Preparatory Academy Extends Winning Streak to Four

UME Preparatory Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They never let the Leadership Prep Lions get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Give the EAGLES' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Mason McCoy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of UME Preparatory Academy's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 4-18-1 when he doesn't). McCoy was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, UME Preparatory Academy let Andres Carbajal and Austin Dennis run wild. Carbajal scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Dennis scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. UME Preparatory Academy is 4-1 when Dennis posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-18-1 otherwise. Max Mannix was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

UME Preparatory Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

UME Preparatory Academy pushed their record up to 7-19-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

As of now, neither they nor Leadership Prep have any future games scheduled.
