Baseball Recap: Winchester Thurston Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Winchester Thurston dropped their record down to 10-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Leechburg Blue Devils, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Leechburg this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Tuesday.

Lucas Picher was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Leechburg, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Leechburg's side, Chase Henry was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Henry has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Bertino, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Winchester Thurston will take on Western Beaver at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Leechburg, they will square off against Kiski School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
