Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Robert C. Byrd

Robert C. Byrd extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 15-16. They walked away with a 17-14 victory over the Lewis County Minutemen. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly three runs.

Robert C. Byrd got a massive performance out of Amirah Moore, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Moore has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Hardy, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Robert C. Byrd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

As for Lewis County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (13), they still had to take the loss.

On Lewis County's side, Bailey Oldaker made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Smith, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

As of now, neither Robert C. Byrd nor Lewis County have any future games scheduled.
