Baseball Game Preview: Berea-Midpark Titans vs. Elyria Pioneers

The Berea-Midpark Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Elyria Pioneers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Olmsted Falls hit Berea-Midpark with a four-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 10-0. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Berea-Midpark got a good showing from Anthony Birch, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave Birch a new career-low in walks (zero).

Meanwhile, Elyria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 9-4 to Rocky River.

JJ Buckey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Elyria's loss dropped their record down to 3-15-1. As for Berea-Midpark, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
