Football Game Preview: Cedar Reds vs. Canyon View Falcons

Two dominant signal callers in Everett Kelling and Ryder Miller are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Cedar Reds will head out to take on the Canyon View Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Cedar earned a 49-41 victory over Richfield.

Cedar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Demille, who rushed for 141 yards and one TD while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Slade Parsons did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 170 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cedar was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Canyon View played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Juab, falling 39-10. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-3.

Canyon View's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cedar, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Cedar has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 238.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 198.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went Cedar's way against Canyon View in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, as Cedar made off with a 33-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Reds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
