Softball Recap: Edgewood Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Edgewood entered their tilt with Sauk Prairie on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia Avena tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Becker, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Healy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Sauk Prairie, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-17.

Coming up, Edgewood will challenge Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Cardinals have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sauk Prairie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McFarland at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
