Soccer Game Preview: Laney vs. Ashley

The Laney Buccaneers will take on the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Laney's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on South Brunswick with a sharp 4-0 win. With that victory, Laney brought their scoring average up to 2.6 goals per game.

They hit South Brunswick with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Olivia Hennessey, Avery Smith, Jasmine Hicks, and Olivia Duleba.

Meanwhile, Ashley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past West Brunswick 9-0. Given Ashley's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while West Brunswick are ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Laney has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matches. Ashley's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0-2.
