Baseball Game Preview: Secaucus Patriots vs. North Arlington Vikings

The Secaucus Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the North Arlington Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Secaucus is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for Secaucus' offense. They came up short against St. Mary on Monday, falling 13-0.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, North Arlington made sure to put some runs up on the board against Harrison on Monday. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Tide a 10-0 shutout. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Blue Tide recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Matt Higgins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Chris Troyano was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of North Arlington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Rohan Patel was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

North Arlington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Secaucus' defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for North Arlington, their record is now 9-14.

Secaucus might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from North Arlington when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
