Basketball Recap: Cisne Comes Up Short

Cisne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sandoval Blackhawks. The Runnin' Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Sandoval's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quentin Heinzman, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. Heinzman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Josh Gordan, who posted six points and seven boards.

Cisne's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Sandoval, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 9-14.

Cisne will be playing at home against Lawrenceville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandoval, they will take on Zeigler-Royalton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sandoval has three straight wins, Zeigler-Royalton has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
