Sonora is 6-0 against Escalon since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sonora Wildcats duke it out with the Escalon Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Sonora is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Ripon Christian just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 55-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since December 28, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Escalon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They breezed by Orestimba to the tune of 65-38 on Friday. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Warriors are ranked 1066th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sonora's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for Escalon, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Sonora didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Escalon when the teams last played on January 8th, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. Will Sonora repeat their success, or does Escalon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
