Baseball Recap: Eastmont Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Eastmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Moses Lake Mavericks by a score of 6-2. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 8-2 win the Mavericks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Jack Swedburg made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other pitching news, Camden Schmitten tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Valente Barrios, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Izik Ontiveros, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Eastmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matches.

Eastmont's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Moses Lake, they dropped their record down to 11-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Eastmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mavericks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
