Volleyball Recap: Kensley Rowell Key Part of Team Effort in Panthers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Excel challenged Monroe County on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Excel took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-13, 25-7.

Excel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kensley Rowell, who had six assists and four aces. Those four aces gave Rowell a new career-high.

Rowell wasn't the only good server: Excel was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 27 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive games.

The victory got Excel back to even at 4-4. As for Monroe County, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Excel has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Clarke County on the 9th. As for Monroe County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
