Softball Recap: Payson Gets the Win

Payson's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Apache Junction Prospectors get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. Considering the Longhorns have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Payson got a massive performance out of Caelee Boyle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave Boyle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Breezey Morgan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Boyle wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Payson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Payson's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Apache Junction, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Payson will welcome Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apache Junction, they will challenge Globe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Prospectors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
