Baseball Recap: Weedsport Takes a Loss

Weedsport fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Port Byron on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Patrick Whitman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Giacolone, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Weedsport's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Port Byron, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weedsport will challenge Bishop Grimes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Port Byron, they will square off against Pulaski at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
