Basketball Preview: Columbus Cardinals vs. Palacios Sharks
Columbus is 8-0 against the Sharks since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Columbus Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Palacios Sharks at 6:00 p.m. Columbus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Columbus came up short against the Tigers and fell 61-53. That's two games in a row now that Columbus has lost by exactly eight points.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Karlee Mathis, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Thomas, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 61 points the game before, Palacios were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost to Yoakum at home by a decisive 39-23 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Palacios has scored all season.
Columbus has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-10 record this season. As for Palacios, their loss dropped their record down to 19-13.
Columbus strolled past the Sharks when the teams last played back in January by a score of 51-35. Will Columbus repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
