Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Roanoke Catholic's 12th in Last 14 Outings

Roanoke Catholic extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Jayden Johnson. The Roanoke Catholic Celtics secured a 68-62 W over the New Covenant Gryphons on Tuesday thanks in part to Johnson, who went 13 of 21 on his way to 35 points and three steals. Those 35 points gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Williams, who went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for five straight games.

Roanoke Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for New Covenant, they moved to 15-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Roanoke Catholic will head out to challenge Virginia Episcopal School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Roanoke Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Virginia Episcopal School likes a good challenge. As for New Covenant, they will welcome The Covenant at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
