Softball Game Preview: Vallejo Redhawks vs. Bethel Jaguars

The Vallejo Redhawks will face off against the Bethel Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Vallejo has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Vallejo is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 23 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against El Cerrito on Friday. They came up short against the Gauchos, falling 23-2.

Bethel never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Justin-Siena on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Braves 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since March 20, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Arry Duran, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Mia Espinoza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Bethel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Justin-Siena only posted an OBP of .439.

Bethel's win bumped their record up to 4-14-1. As for Vallejo, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Everything went Vallejo's way against Bethel in their previous meeting back in February, as Vallejo made off with a 27-17 victory. Do the Redhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
