Softball Recap: South Ripley's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Ripley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the New Washington Mustangs. The Raiders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Ellie Combs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julia Hilton, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Jordan, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

South Ripley's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for New Washington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Ripley will welcome Jac-Cen-Del at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for New Washington, they will be playing at home against Crothersville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
