Softball Recap: Egg Harbor Township Starts Season with Victory Against Millville

Egg Harbor Township had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Millville Thunderbolts. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Thunderbolts, too.

Gabi Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and nine RBI while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Laura Mack was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sophia Spatacco, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Egg Harbor Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville only posted an OBP of .464.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Egg Harbor Township will square off against rival Vineland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Millville is set to face off against their familiar foe St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
