After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carroll, Bellmont was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the New Haven Bulldogs as the Bellmont Braves made off with a 3-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Braves also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Bellmont took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-11, 25-8.
Bellmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Liz Bobay out in front who had five digs and 20 assists. Bobay is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 18 or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Mills, who had six digs and two aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Bellmont was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.
Bellmont's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for New Haven, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.
Bellmont will challenge Angola at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Angola will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Bellmont surely won't give up without a fight. As for New Haven, they will face off against Pioneer at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
