Softball Recap: Kenai Central Wins High-Profile Contest Against Homer

Kenai Central faced Homer in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Kardinals came out on top against the Mariners by a score of 11-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Kardinals considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Blakeley Jorgensen was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Seylor Tomrdle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Kenai Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homer only posted a batting average of .333.

The victory got Kenai Central back to even at 8-8. As for Homer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Kenai Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-11 win against Bartlett on the 10th. As for Homer, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Chugiak on the 9th.
