Basketball Game Preview: Dawson School Mustangs vs. Lyons Lions

Dawson School is 2-8 against Lyons since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dawson School Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Lyons Lions at 5:30 p.m.

Dawson School is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop Machebeuf.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyons). They walked away with a 46-34 victory over Front Range Christian on Friday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Falcons are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lyons has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Dawson School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Dawson School was dealt a bruising 57-29 defeat at the hands of Lyons in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Dawson School, Gemma Powell (who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
