Softball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Rocklin Thunder

Davis Sr. hasn't had much luck against Rocklin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Davis Sr. 4, Rocklin 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Davis Sr. is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 18th on Wednesday. They lost 8-1 to Oak Ridge.

Meanwhile, Rocklin came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Payton Prior spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Renee Dragseth was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendal Linehan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Rocklin's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Davis Sr., their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
