Football Recap: Lakewood Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Lakewood's offense. They took a blow against the Barnegat Bengals on Friday, falling 49-0. The Piners haven't had much luck with the Bengals recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Barnegat can attribute much of their success to Jack Haviland, who rushed for 46 yards and one TD, and also threw for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing. The dominant performance also gave Haviland a new career-high in passer rating (168.3). Ryan Fitzpatrick was in the mix too, providing Barnegat with two scores.

Lakewood now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Barnegat, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lakewood will head out to take on New Egypt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Barnegat, they will venture away from home to face off against Freehold Township at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
