Baseball Game Preview: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs vs. Proviso East Pirates

For the second straight game, Berwyn/Cicero Morton will face off against Proviso East. The Mustangs will welcome the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Berwyn/Cicero Morton's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Proviso East has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Proviso East with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 9-1).

The result came thanks to Mathew Roman's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Vega and James Richmond did most of the damage at the plate: Vega went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Richmond went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave Vega a new career-high. Alejandro Guzman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-22 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Proviso East, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-24.
