Softball Recap: Immaculata Spartans vs. North Hunterdon Lions
Immaculata was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Hunterdon Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on Tuesday.
Immaculata saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Falvey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Falvey's first of the season.
Immaculata's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for North Hunterdon, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Immaculata and North Hunterdon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 134th) will meet Middletown North (ranked 50th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, North Hunterdon will face off against Hunterdon Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (75 vs. 5).
