Recap: Illiana Christian Vikings vs. Wheeler Bearcats
The Illiana Christian Vikings can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 71-40 victory over Wheeler. With Illiana Christian ahead 48-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Andy Spoelman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Polak, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Wheeler saw an underclassman step up: Nick Scott scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. Carter Blane was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Wheeler struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They are 1-5 when they can't control their own glass like that.
The win (which was Illiana Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Wheeler, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.
Illiana Christian will be playing at home against Marquette Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheeler, they will head out on the road to challenge Hebron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Hebron's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Wheeler has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
