Cardinal Gibbons had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Hillside Hornets 40-19 on Thursday. Considering the Crusaders have won nine matchups by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cardinal Gibbons can attribute much of their success to Conner Lindsey, who threw for 273 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Aaron Anderson helped Lindsey out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards, while also catching one score.

The win (which was Cardinal Gibbons' seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games. As for Hillside, they moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Cardinal Gibbons has already played their next game, a 16-14 win against Garner on the 28th. Hillside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
