With a playoff win on the line, Cardinal Gibbons rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Hillside Hornets with a sharp 40-19 victory. Considering the Crusaders have won nine games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cardinal Gibbons can attribute much of their success to Conner Lindsey, who threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Aaron Anderson helped Lindsey out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards, while also catching one score.

Cardinal Gibbons pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.0 points on average over those games. As for Hillside, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Coming up, Cardinal Gibbons will take on Garner at 7:00 p.m. on the 28th. Hillside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
