Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Downey Knights
Two dominant players in Dylan Mansour and Reuben Lewis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Campolindo Cougars and the Downey Knights will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at. Campolindo will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Campolindo was able to grind out a solid win over College Park, taking the game 57-50. Given Campolindo's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while College Park is ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Campolindo can attribute much of their success to Tim Smith, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Mansour, who scored 15 points. Landon Fly was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Downey unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Oak Ridge on the road and fell 67-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Downey has scored all season.
Campolindo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Downey, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-6 record last season and are now at 4-8.
