Volleyball Recap: Churubusco Comes Up Short

Churubusco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Noble Knights. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: East Noble scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Churubusco still got an impressive performance from Mckayla Reuter, who had three digs and three aces. Reuter is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

East Noble's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Walz led the charge by getting eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Walz has posted since back in October of 2024.

Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for East Noble, their record is now 2-3.

Coincidentally, Churubusco and East Noble will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the court. The Knights will host the Patriots at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
