Basketball Recap: Naselle Takes a Loss

If Naselle was riding high fresh off their 72-47 takedown of Kelso last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Naselle Comets took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raymond/South Bend Ravens.

Raymond/South Bend's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Banker, who posted ten points along with eight boards and seven assists. Chris Quintana was another key player, going 9 for 16 on his way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Naselle has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Raymond/South Bend, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-9.

Naselle is taking a road trip to square off against Taholah at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taholah knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Naselle likes a good challenge. As for Raymond/South Bend, they will host Mossyrock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raymond/South Bend is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
