Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Belfast

Belfast won the last time they faced Winslow and things went their way on Monday too. The Lions put the hurt on the Black Raiders with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jordyn MacKay made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. MacKay was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katience Parenteau, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maggie Metcalf, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

Belfast pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Winslow, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Belfast will square off against Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Winslow, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Oceanside at 4:00 p.m.
