Northeast Academy is 0-10 against Lawrence Academy since May of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles will square off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Northeast Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Columbia last Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the game before.
Chole Long was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Long was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Lawrence Academy came out on top against Faith Christian on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Warriors blew past the Patriots 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Northeast Academy, Lawrence Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Clair Ferebee. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Ferebee has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addie Phelps, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Brower, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Lawrence Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Northeast Academy, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northeast Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Lawrence Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
