Basketball Recap: El Dorado Aztecs vs. Socorro Bulldogs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Americas, the El Dorado Aztecs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over Socorro. That result was just more of the same for these two, as El Dorado also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

El Dorado found their leader in underclassman Hannah Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aralyn Nahle, who scored six points along with two blocks.

Socorro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Giselle Medrano, who scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nataly Dominguez, who scored six points along with six assists and five steals.

El Dorado's win bumped their record up to 13-16. As for Socorro, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-23.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Dorado will challenge the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Montwood is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Socorro, they will head out on the road to face off against the Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Americas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Texas (the Trail Blazers are ranked 70th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 957th).
