Baseball Game Preview: Lake Highland Prep Highlanders vs. Cocoa Beach Minutemen

The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the Cocoa Beach Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Highland Prep will be strutting in after a win while Cocoa Beach will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Lake Highland Prep got the win against Merritt Island Christian by a conclusive 8-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Highlanders.

Hayden Mackle looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Manny Socarras was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Towns, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Cocoa Beach came up short against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Saturday and fell 7-2.

Cocoa Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Ceruti, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Cocoa Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lake Highland Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Highland Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cocoa Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts.
